Description

The person on the presentation card is ambassador Chris Bond, who played ‘Wheelchair Rugby’ in the Tokyo Paralympics.  Chris, who plays in Australia’s wheelchair rugby team the Steelers, is one of the world’s best wheelchair rugby players. He is a team leader in the steelers and has won gold medals at the London 2012 and RIO 2016 Paralympic Games.

The Royal Australian Mint has released this $1 coloured uncirculated coin in support of Australia’s athletes who participated in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, which was held from 25th August to 6th September 2020.

Starting in 1948 as a competition for Second World War veterans, the Paralympic Games are now one of the largest international events in the world. Australia has participated in every summer Paralympic Games since the first official games in 1960.
