- Opera luminary who reigned over many international stages during her 40 year career.
- Sir Douglas Mawson
- He led a pioneering Antarctic exploration in 1911, which was the first major scientific and geological study of this continent. He was a explorer, scientist, geologist and a university professor.
- Slim Dusty
- Released more than 100 albums, winning dozens of song writing and recording awards.
